進入第一課了,現在從基本的攻擊防禦開始學。
Mendoza 主要的攻擊部位只有四個,臉部、頭的兩側、腹部和軀幹側面。
對面部和腹部的攻擊要用前手臂防禦格擋。
從左右兩側對頭部的攻擊要用手肘防護,但是提起手肘的同時要把另一隻手放下保護腹部。也就是前面基本原則的,不要雙手同時提起或者同時放下。
對側身比如肋骨的攻擊也是用手肘防護,防護的同時要用另一手還擊或是推開對手的臉。
這個時候的閃避動作,無論遇到什麼攻擊都是以上半身向後的方式來閃避。其實書中不太提及腳步的運用,只有在最後有簡單前進後退的描述。
相比起更後來的拳擊,這時候的拳擊可能就是兩個人慢慢試探到近身,然後就是頂住互毆到一方放棄為止。
或許Mendoza的第一課是從各種格擋保護自己開始,在那個拳擊就是意志、體力與互毆的時代確實是很新穎的訓練方式也不一定。
英文沒有非常非常好,對拳擊也不是很懂,有一些句子不是特別有把握。幸好句子不長,乾脆PO出原文大家一起練習中英對照閱讀。如果有什麼翻譯錯誤的地方在請幫忙糾正。

註1:此處跟之前基本原則的部分一樣,針對頭部和身體的後閃使用了throw back來形容。查字典throw back是往後丟的意思,throw則除了投擲外還有類似猛衝的涵義。這邊就簡單譯為向後閃避。

註2:strike round. 也許Mendoza當時還沒有精細區分各種不同的曲線打擊,將所有走外圈的攻擊簡單統稱為strike round。

註3:keeping your left opposite his nose. 這句我不是很確定到底是用左手還擊對手的鼻子,還是用左手頂住對手的鼻子,或者只是用左手瞄著對手的鼻子就好。因為有keeping 應該有維持的意思,加上現在被打肚子應該要推開對手拉開距離,所以我用抵住對手的鼻子來理解。

註4:right side. 這邊因為是用手肘防護,應該是攻擊了肋骨側腹一代的位置。攻擊軀幹靠近正面的位置會用前臂防護,左右兩側的部位會用手肘防護。所以這裡翻譯為側身。
